Edinburgh Dental School became part of the University of Edinburgh in 1948 and graduates were awarded the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). In 1982, Dental Surgery became a separate department within the College and continues to strive for education, training and maintenance of professional and ethical standards.
